Finding deals and saving money is the only way to shop. If you know you’re buying something more than once – like toilet paper, diapers, cleaning supplies, food, etc, finding deals can save you a TON of money. One great place to look is Amazon at their Subscribe & save service. Read on to find out how it works and how to shop for deals.

Amazon’s Subscribe & Save page is a great place to look to find deals. Pay attention to the cost per item to make sure you’re getting a good deal. Just because you’re getting it in bulk or getting up to 15% discount doesn’t always make it a good deal. This goes for warehouse stores like Costco and Sam’s Club too!

What is Subscribe & Save?!

Subscribe & Save is a great discount service you can use to auto-renew your product every 1-6 months. You set up each item individually and you can choose how many items you want and how frequently you want them. When you choose to subscribe, you get a percentage discount off your reoccurring purchase. Top tier savings occur when you subscribe to 5 or more items in any given month.

Each month you can review your order and change it as needed. You get one estimated delivery date for all your subscription items for each month plus the last date to modify your order. You are allowed to skip, cancel, or even move items up to get them sooner as you need. The flexibility is great and there are no fees associated with canceling or changing your order (unless you drop down to less than 5 items in an order, you get the lower tier savings).

You do not need to be an Amazon Prime member to receive the discounts, but being a member has it’s benefits which you can read about here. If you want to try a 30-day free trial, you can sign up for one here.
Check out a few things you can do to make Subscribe & Save a great deal:

1. Search for Subscribe & Save Coupons

You can search for coupons within the Subscribe & Save store to find extra coupons off the items you buy, the best thing is that these coupons STACK on top of the additional % off listed. Coupons can qualify you for an additional 10-50% off and occasionally even more! This makes it a fantastic deal! As below, the original item was $15.64, and with a 40% off coupon, plus the 15% off Subscribe & Save special, the total discount was 54% off!

2. Update your Subscribe & Save orders monthly

On your Subscribe & Save page, you will see the last day of the month you can update your delivery. Amazon makes it really easy to skip a month or cancel additional orders if you don’t need those items anymore. With coupons, you can use them once to maximize your savings, and you can qualify for another coupon if you cancel your subscription!

3. Make sure you have 5 items for the top discount tier!

This is one of the best ways that makes Subscribe & Save worth it. You have to have at least 5 items in your order to receive the top tier discount (which varies based on the category of the item you’re ordering). It’s not difficult to find great items to add to your monthly subscription to make sure you qualify for the top discount. Check here to find Subscribe & Save eligible items.

4. Calculate Cost Per Item

Regardless of where you are shopping for a discount, you always have to calculate the price per item to determine if it truly is a good deal to buy. Buying in bulk always seems like a great way to save money, but there are times when you can find a better deal purchasing separately on sale or with coupons. Check the cost per time to make sure it’s a great deal.

5. Get 5% off any Eligible Subscribe & Save Item

Need an item right away? You can still choose the Subscribe & Save option and get an automatic 5% discount on select items you want to have shipped immediately. You don’t have to get another order if you cancel it before the next one ships out!

Check out the deals yourself and use this great tool to help you save money!
